About the artist: She began painting at the age of 39. Prior to that, she changed many professions: she worked as a weaver, head of the communications department, and a requisite in the theater. She graduated from the correspondence department of the Ulyanovsk Cultural and Educational College with a degree in choir conductor. In 1978, the first solo exhibition of Katya Medvedeva took place in Kislovodsk, in the Club of Trade Workers, where she declared herself one of the most prominent representatives of naive art and urban folklore in painting. Since then, her exhibitions have been held regularly. Since 1981, the artist lives and works in Moscow. One of the first collectors of her painting was the German diplomat Norbert Kuhinka. Medvedev's paintings are stored in contemporary art galleries in Germany, the USA, and in many private collections. In Paris, at the International House of Arts, 40 of her works are kept by the painting commissioner Francoise Grundt.
