Yaroshenko often came to Ukraine, in particular, in recent years, to Poltava and Chernihiv.
In the last years of his life and work he went to Kislovodsk, where in 1885 he bought a house called White Ville, where he lived and worked until his death. While in Kislovodsk, Nikolay Yaroshenko came to Dmitry Mendeleyev, Nikolay Dubovsky (Dubovskaya), and Mikhail Nesterov. In recent years, despite a serious illness, Yaroshenko traveled a lot in Russia and abroad: he was on the Volga, in Italy, Syria, Palestine and Egypt. He was an honorary citizen of Kislovodsk.
