About the artist: Soviet Ukrainian painter. Member of the Union of Artists of the Ukrainian SSR. Born on December 31, 1921 in the city of Voroshilovgrad (Lugansk). From the age of 6 he began to paint, from 1952 - to exhibit. Graduated from the Voroshilovgrad Art School. Andrey Nikiforovich's teachers were V.Z. Kozodoev and M.M. Shevchenko. He adhered to a realistic direction in painting. Basically, Andrei Nikiforovich devoted all his works to the theme of the Great Patriotic War, the recovery period of the post-war years and peaceful life during the years of Soviet power. The artist depicted the themes of these events in the following genres: thematic painting, portrait, landscape, still life. "Bring goodness and joy to people in his paintings." This is how Andrei Nikiforovich Kurennoy defined the philosophy of his works. For the originality of the composition, Andrei Kurenniy is most impressed by the work of Moiseenko, for the high professionalism - Melnikov, for the simplicity of compositional decisions - Grigoriev. Among the artists of the Luhansk region, Andrei Kurennoy Moses Volstein is distinguished for his high artistic qualities. Many journalists and critics wrote about Andrey Kurenniy's works: an article by N. Ivantsova about the painting “A Minute of Silence”, published in the magazine “Obrazotvorche mystestvo” (1970); articles by I. Panich and I. Gubsky: "Our hero is a contemporary" and "Traveling exhibitions" ("Voroshilovgrad truth", 1971-1972).
