About the artist: Viktor Vladimirovich Bakhtin is a Russian graphic artist, animal painter.

Was born in Krasnoyarsk. Graduated from the Moscow Polygraphic Institute. Became popular in Siberia as a book graphic, illustrated more than 70 books.

Viktor Bakhtin recalls: “I am generally a slave to details. Probably, thanks to the book graphics - I had to carefully delve into the work in order to avoid any inaccuracies. I really enjoyed working on Alexander Volkov's series "The Wizard of the Emerald City" - everything is logical for him. "

Many writers enjoyed working with V. Bakhtin. Viktor Astafyev really liked how the artist designed his "Tsar - a fish". Bakhtin was also the first to illustrate V. Pikul's Favorite.

And in science fiction he turned out to be the only illustrator of the no longer published story of V. Kolupaev "The Fomich Firm Train".

The book by J. Roni "The Struggle for Fire" became, as it were, a turning point in the artist's work. He was fascinated by the animal world. But he took up animal studies seriously when he was offered to illustrate the "Red Book of the Krasnoyarsk Territory", since then animal studies have become his main theme.

He worked in Sweden, Spain, Alaska. Since the 90s, he has been living in the United States, where he died in November 2016.

Participant of international exhibitions, awarded with the highest awards, recognized as one of the best animal painters.
