About the artists: Soviet Ukrainian painter. Honored Artist of the Ukrainian SSR. Member of the Union of Artists of the Ukrainian SSR. One of the best portrait painters of the second half of the twentieth century. “Ivan Ivanovich Loboda was born on July 5, 1926 in the village of Bolshie Krinki into a peasant family. After graduating from high school, from 1949 to 1957 he studied at the Kiev Art Institute. Teachers: Professor Puzyrkov V., Shovkunenko O., Ivanov M. Member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine since 1962. Honored Artist of Ukraine since 1976. Works are in the Ivano-Frankivsk Art Museum and in private collections in Ukraine. In the turbulent years of his youth, Ivan Ivanovich managed to experience a lot and see: the Holodomor, the war (he was a participant in the fighting), the post-war struggle against Bandera (he took part), the creation of a branch of the artists’ union in Ivano-Frankivsk (he was an active participant), training the first Soviet cosmonauts to fly. He was the chairman of the regional branch of the Union of Artists (1976–1981), and took part in many exhibitions. He traveled a lot and created a huge amount of work. The artist’s works are represented in many public and private collections in Ukraine and abroad and are in constant demand.
