About the artist: Soviet artist, graphic artist and art theorist, one of the representatives of the Moscow school of painting. Born in 1897 in Moscow. He studied at Moscow (1914-1922) and Freiburg (Germany) (1925-1926) universities. Honored Artist of the RSFSR, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences. Author of books and articles on the theory of drawing, composition and coloring in painting.

A participant in various exhibitions since 1933, including the first exhibition of watercolor painting by Moscow artists in 1937. Watercolors N. Volkova repeatedly exhibited at foreign exhibitions in Brussels, East Germany, Finland and other countries. The personal exhibition of the artist was held in 2009 at the Museum of Modern Fine Art (Rostov-on-Don). Works are in collections: State Tretyakov Gallery (Moscow), State Museum of Fine Arts named after A.S. Pushkin (Moscow), Military Medical Museum (St. Petersburg).
