About the artist: Ukrainian painter. Master of the impressionistic landscape. Born on April 6, 1922 in the village of Aksai (Volgograd Region). He graduated from the Odessa Art School (1955), where he studied at L. Muchnik and D. Frumina. Participant of the Second World War. Participated in exhibitions: republican (since 1957), all-Union (since 1958). Awarded with medals. He worked in the genre of landscape and still life. The artist has a pronounced, special flavor characteristic of the Odessa school of painting. Most of the author's paintings sold out - he did not save, but donated works. 19 canvases were donated by the daughter of OXM, where in 2000 the artist's posthumous exhibition was held. A prominent representative of "South Russian" impressionism. Among the variety of trends in art, the most consonant with Malyshev's inner makeup was impressionism - the pictorial transformation of fleeting impressions into artistic images. There is an opinion that once emerging currents pass the peak of development over time and lose their relevance. A common misconception! In reality, this is not the case. Any current remains to live in genetic memory, ready to be actualized and creatively manifested at the right moment. It all depends on the artist, his spontaneous sensuality and erudition. With his work, Malyshev showed how tenacious and inexhaustible the impressionistic approach to pictorial art. The artistic persuasiveness of the works created by him is such that the ideology of the transience of impressions acquires the strength of the fundamental nature of the polyphonic sound of an integral image. Malyshev is a subtle colorist and an inspired lyricist. His color is certainly with a pearl-mother-of-pearl tint, the generalized form is a consonant movement of a realistic prototype and a romantically interpreted image, the light flooding the paintings sounds like a major chord of an optimistic perception of life. The artist literally gushed with his ineradicable desire to write! Being an inveterate hunter, fisherman, he loved companionship by the fire, was known as a hospitable and cordial family man, a witty and inexhaustible storyteller. All this enriched his life impressions, provided a high degree of creative intensity. Major works: "On the Dniester" (1958); "New port of Illichevka" (1960); Spring near Odessa (1963); "On the Fields of the T. G. Shevchenko State Farm" (1964); "On the Dniester" (1967) and others. The painter's works are presented in public and private collections in Ukraine and abroad.
