About the artist: Ukrainian painter. Honored Artist of the USSR.
Petr Stepanovich Sulimenko was born on July 16 (July 29 in a new style) in 1914 in the city of Ekaterinodar (now Krasnodar).
After graduating from high school, he studied at the factory school of river transport, specializing in steering.
The love of drawing won and Peter Sulimenko in 1932 entered the Krasnodar Art College.
In 1935 he continued his studies at the Rostov Art College, which he graduated in 1936.
Since 1939 - a student at the Kiev State Art Institute.
During the Great Patriotic War, he continued his training in evacuation at the Ukrainian branch of the Joint Art Institute of the All-Russian Academy of Arts - first in Samarkand, then in Zagorsk near Moscow.
The teachers of the artist were A.A. Shovkunenko, K.N. Eleva, A.I. Sirotenko, A.I. Fomin, S.N. Yerzhikovsky.
In 1947, P.S. Sulimenko writes a thesis "The Immortal Feat of Sevastopol", which is exhibited at the Exhibition of Diploma Works by Students of the Kiev Art Institute.
In the same year he joined the Union of Artists of the USSR.

The husband of the artist Zatsepina Zinaida Ilyinichna (1913 - 1986).
Participant of art exhibitions: republican since 1946, all-union - since 1947, foreign - since 1950.
He worked in the field of easel painting. Outstanding marine painter, author of battle paintings.
Master of portraiture and landscape.

A special place in the work of P.S. Sulimenko is occupied by works created by the artist during his creative trips to Egypt, Singapore, Vietnam, Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Guinea and other countries of Africa, Asia and Europe.
In 1960 he was awarded the Order of the Badge of Honor, and in 1970 - the medal "For Valiant Labor".
Honored Artist of the Ukrainian SSR since 1974.
Personal exhibitions of the artist were held in 1957 in Moscow and Kiev, in 1978 in Krasnodar, in 1989 in Kiev.
The works of Pyotr Stepanovich Sulimenko are presented in the National Art Museum of Ukraine, the Sevastopol Art Museum, in numerous museum, gallery and private collections in Ukraine and abroad.
