Anatoly Platonov entered the art of Ukraine as an unsurpassed master of landscape painting. Landscape and still life are genres in which his talent was most fully revealed as a real painter who perfectly felt the color. The poetics of Platonov’s creativity was determined by the peculiarity of his worldview, the romantic nature. He drew his inspiration from nature, in constant communication with her he found themes, plots, images.
The artist traveled a lot around the country and abroad. The impression of the trips was embodied in a series of landscapes: “Baltic States”, “Crimea”, “Sednev”, “Bulgaria”, “Architectural Monuments of Ukraine”. The charge of imagery, which contains the artist’s palette, fills prosaic motifs with such a force of poetry that forces you to see Sednev’s quiet streets, the architecture of old gardens, industrial new buildings, and household items in a new way.
"The landscapes of Anatoly Platonov are juicy, major, active. They are sketchy in nature, but they can be considered complete paintings in which the artist’s opinion is fully expressed. They have great power!" ... T. Yablonskaya, People's Artist of the USSR.
