About the artist: Ukrainian painter.
Fedor Afanasevich Samusev was born on September 6 (September 19 in a new style) in 1913 in the village. Novoraysk (now the Bryansk region of Russia).
In 1937 he graduated from the Penza Art College, where he studied under N.F. Petrova, I.S. Goryushkina-Sorokopudova.
After his graduation, he entered the Kiev State Art Institute, where he studied under A.A. Shovkunenko.
During World War II, he continued his studies in evacuation at the Ukrainian branch of the Joint Art Institute of the All-Russian Academy of Arts, first in Samarkand, then in Zagorsk near Moscow. After the liberation of Kiev, he returned home and in 1945 he graduated from the Kiev Art Institute.
Since 1945 - a participant in republican, all-Union and foreign art exhibitions.
One of the first large-scale exhibitions in which F.A. Samusev took part, there was an exhibition of works by Ukrainian Soviet artists, dedicated to the Day of the miner. It was opened on August 31, 1952 in Donetsk, in the cinema named after T. G. Shevchenko. Ninety-one artists participated in it, including the mentor of Fedor Samusev - Alexey Shovkunenko. In total, one hundred fifty-two works were exhibited at the exhibition.
Samusev F.A. - Member of the Union of Artists of the Ukrainian SSR.
He worked in the field of easel painting. Author of thematic paintings, portraits and landscapes.
