About the artist: She was born on December 26, 1902 [6] in the city of Volsk [1] Saratov province [7]. Her grandfather is Osip Kovalevsky, a scientist and professor at Kazan University. Uncle Pavel Kovalevsky is an artist, another uncle is Nikolai Kovalevsky, a scientist and professor at Kazan University. She grew up in Kazan, Tatar Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic. Her father, Mikhail Osipovich Kovalevsky (b. 1871), was interested in art and ethnography, lectured on art at schools in Kazan, taught history at the 1st male and 3rd female gymnasiums of Kazan, was a member of the Pedagogical Society at Kazan University [8] ... Painter Pavel Benkov, famous researcher of Central Asian art professor Boris Denike, art critic Pyotr Kornilov, historian-bibliographer Pyotr Dulsky and others often visited the Kovalevskys' house [3] [4].

In 1922, Kovalevskaya entered the Kazan Art and Technology Institute (KCTI), where her teachers were Nikolai Feshin and Pavel Benkov [1] [9]. In 1927 [1] [7] Kovalevskaya graduated from the institute, which received the status and name of the Kazan United Art and Theater College. Kovalevskaya's diploma work "Soap Factory" was acquired by the State Museum of the Tatar ASSR [3] [4].

In 1926, the artist joined the Association of Artists of Revolutionary Russia (AHRR), went on creative business trips to collective farms of the Tatar Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic, the Urals, Siberia, Krasnoyarsk and painted the pictures "Kindergarten", "Smelting gold", "Tatarka washerwoman", " Pioneer "," Threshing on a collective farm ". These works were exhibited at the AHRR exhibition in Kazan and Moscow and were also acquired by the State Museum of the Tatar ASSR [3].

In 1928-1930. taught in secondary schools in Kazan [1].

In the summer of 1930, Kovalevskaya was invited to Samarkand [1] to work as an artist of the Ethnography Department of the Uzbek State Research Institute (UzGNII) [4] [9]. Leaving on business trips of the department of ethnography and art embroidery artel "Labor of a woman", Kovalevskaya studies Uzbek folk ornament, makes sketches of embroidery. From trips, he brings watercolor sketches, sketches of women and children. Paints the pictures "The Handicraftsman" (1932), "Dervishes deceive the people" (1935), "In the youth brigade", "Oktyabrins" [3].

The first significant success of the artist and "one of the best works of painting in Uzbekistan in the second half of the thirties" was the painting "In the Lodge" (1937) [10]. Then Kovaleska painted the pictures "The Winner of the Bike Ride" (1939) and others. During the Great Patriotic War, Kovalevskaya painted the pictures "Young Badges" (1941), "Come back with victory" (1942), "In a new family" (1942). The last two paintings were exhibited at the All-Union traveling exhibition "Patriotic War" in Moscow in December 1942. Then Kovalevskaya painted the paintings "Seeing Off" and "Children visiting the wounded" (1943) [3] [4].
