About the artist: Vasily Ryabchenko was born July 23, 1954 in Odessa in the family of the Soviet graphic artist Sergei Ryabchenko [2].

He began his art education in 1966 at an art school.

In 1969 he entered the Odessa Art College named after M. B. Grekov at the Department of Painting.

From 1974 to 1976 - a volunteer at the Lvov Higher Industrial School. Mukhina in Leningrad. Upon returning to Odessa - acquaintance and friendship with Valentin Khrushch and Odessa "nonconformists." During this period, he is actively experimenting with photography. The main subjects were household non-stop still lifes of objects, later a combination of objects and bodies, in the layout of which the artist used the “voidness” and asymmetry characteristic of the Eastern tradition [3]. From 1978 to 1983 he studied at the South Ukrainian State Pedagogical University. KD Ushinsky at the Faculty of Graphic Arts, where his teachers were Zinaida Borisyuk and Valery Geghamyan [4].

Since 1987 - a member of the Union of Artists of the USSR, later the National Union of Artists of Ukraine [5].

During this period, active participation in the group of artists that arose in Odessa begins: Lykov, Nekrasov, Roitburd, Ryabchenko, which declared itself in the late 1980s with the exhibitions "After Modernism 1" and "After Modernism 2". A group of artists little known in the official art environment of the Union of Artists and not related to the unofficial “non-conformist” group, held two major resonant exhibitions on the territory of a state institution - the Odessa Art Museum. Large formats, themes and subjects of works laid the foundation for a new trend in the visual arts of Odessa. Effective support appeared among the urban intelligentsia, journalists, and young entrepreneurs who created and maintained the first Tirs Center for Contemporary Art in Odessa [3].

In 1996, Vasily Ryabchenko founds the creative association Art Laboratory. In the same year he received the award and the title "Best Artist of Ukraine" following the results of the first Kiev All-Ukrainian Art Festival "Golden Peretin".
