The painting "Human Interpretations" is a thought-provoking oil on canvas piece that blends abstract and figurative elements to explore the complexity of human identity and perception. The artist employs a bold and contrasting color palette, using primary colors—red, blue, yellow—alongside black, white, green, and shades of gray. The technique features flat, even areas of color juxtaposed with more textured sections, creating a balance between smooth and rough surfaces. This approach enhances the painting's abstract quality while maintaining a sense of depth and structure. The composition is divided into distinct sections, each contributing to the overall theme of human interpretation and perception. The central focus is a large, stylized human face that is split into two halves, each painted in contrasting colors and styles. Surrounding the face are various symbolic elements, including architectural forms, musical instruments, and geometric patterns. The human face is the most prominent feature in the painting, occupying the central vertical axis. It is divided into two contrasting halves: the left side is painted black with a red eye, while the right side is a pale, off-white with a more naturalistic eye. This division suggests duality and the multifaceted nature of human identity. The lips are painted in a combination of red and green, further emphasizing the theme of contrast and duality. On the left side, there is a silhouette of a church or building with a spire and cross, painted in black against a light background. This element may symbolize spirituality, tradition, or societal structures. On the right side, there is a detailed depiction of a violin, rendered in natural wood tones. The violin represents art, creativity, and the emotional aspects of human experience. The lower sections of the painting feature bold geometric patterns, including a red and white checkerboard design and solid blocks of green and orange. These patterns add to the abstract nature of the piece and suggest the structured, analytical side of human thought. The background is composed of large, flat areas of color that provide a stark contrast to the detailed elements in the foreground. The use of muted gray and blue tones in the background helps to highlight the central figure and symbolic elements, drawing the viewer’s attention to the intricate details. The overall mood of the painting is contemplative and introspective. The use of contrasting colors and divided elements suggests an exploration of the complexities of human nature and the different ways in which people interpret the world around them. The blend of abstract and figurative elements invites viewers to engage with the painting on multiple levels, considering both its aesthetic qualities and its deeper meanings. "Human Interpretations" can be seen as a meditation on the diverse aspects of human identity and perception. The dual nature of the central face, combined with the symbolic elements, reflects the multifaceted nature of human experience, encompassing both rational and emotional, traditional and modern, structured and creative dimensions. The painting encourages viewers to reflect on their own interpretations and perceptions, highlighting the subjective nature of reality. This painting masterfully combines abstract and figurative elements to create a rich, multifaceted exploration of human identity and perception, using color, form, and symbolism to engage and provoke thought.

About the artists: Oleksiyander Gukalov
After graduating from Lviv Polytechnic, he was engaged in scientific work. In his free time, he studied the works of Plato, the poetry of the ancient East, and religious works. At this time, resistance to the routine of life and utilitarian science arose in him; he became interested in man and his secrets. Oleksiyander decided to end his engineering career and become a humanitarian. Since 1990, he began to write and publish philosophical poems. Later he decided to devote himself to painting, a passion for which began during his years of study at the Lviv Polytechnic with caricatures and caricatures of classmates and teachers.

Since 2017 he has been painting with oil paints. Oleksiyander does not have a formal art education, but he is convinced that the craft and talent of an artist do not directly depend on professional education. The artist's works are characterized by completeness of composition and depth of meaning. He is not afraid to work with different themes, his paintings are true modern art that touches people. The artist’s portfolio includes landscapes and views of his favorite cities, portraits of pop stars, politicians, athletes, relatives, and animals. “I draw a toga when I feel the need for it. Therefore, I cannot say that I work in some narrow direction. Rather, it is a call from the soul,” the artist says about himself.
