About the artist: Erlikh Vladimir Isaakovich was born on September 25, 1924 in the village of Novopavlovka, Odessa region, in a working class family. In 1932 he moved with his parents to the city of Zaporozhye.
Vladimir had early drawing abilities, but the Great Patriotic War prevented his studies in the visual arts. During the war, he was with his parents in an evacuation in the city of Omsk, where he worked at the plant as a locksmith. And only after the end of the war, Vladimir Erlikh entered the Dnepropetrovsk art school, where the famous masters N. S. Pogrebnyak and M. N. Panin were his teachers.
As a student, the artist works a lot and in his third year takes part in the regional exhibition of professional artists. In 1961, the artist’s works took part in the republican exhibition for the first time, and in 1963 in the All-Union Exhibition. In 1962, the first solo exhibition of Vladimir Erlikh took place.
In 1963 he became a member of the Union of Artists of the USSR.
For a long time, from 1951 to 1984, he worked as an artist at the Dnepropetrovsk Art and Production Combine of the Art Fund of the Ukrainian SSR.
IN AND. Erlich in his work has always remained faithful to the traditions of Soviet realistic art. And although the artist’s heritage presents works of various pictorial genres, including still lifes, landscapes, thematic paintings, he is best known to his admirers as a portrait painter. During his life, V. Erlich painted hundreds of portraits - lyrical, romantic and chamber.
The lyrical side of V. Ehrlich's talent is brightly revealed in numerous landscapes. He loved to write the Dnieper at different times of the day and season. The poetic images of the mighty river are captivating with sincerity and masterful mastery of the painting technique.
Currently, the works of V.I. Erlikh are in private collections and museum collections (in the Dnepropetrovsk Art Museum and the Dnepropetrovsk Historical Museum named after D.I. Yavornitsky).
