About the artist: Egor Tolkunov was born on July 18, 1943 in the village. Petrivka Genichesky district of Kherson region. In 1969 he graduated from the Republican Art College. IY Repin in Chisinau. He studied in the restoration workshops. I. Grabar in Moscow. Since 1971 - Member of the Union of Artists of Ukraine. For four years of work in the Kherson art and production workshops he participated in six republican, 3 All-Union exhibitions, and presented the first solo exhibition. He was accepted into the Union of Artists of Ukraine with his creative work. He created canvases "My mother", "Birthday", "Letter", "Holiday", "Len", "Father dedicates", "My childhood", in which he reflected life, perceiving it as a connection of the past, present and of the future.
Yegor Tolkunov entered the art with his peculiarities of the picturesque language. In his work he was attracted by the heavy destinies of the people in whom the tragic events of the twentieth century were left - "Veteran of the Patriotic War", "Music teacher", "Abyss", "Homeless", "Loneliness". The artist's mother, Anna, dreamed that her son would become a priest or icon painter. He became an artist and turned to religious subjects many times: he performed works in the temple of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker in the village of Stara Bogdanivka near Nikolaev, wrote 40 images of saints, apostles, martyrs.
Female images of the master are introduced into an intimate world of peace and harmony, where a woman is gentle, changeable, sophisticated, wise, she remains mysterious and her beauty is attractively restrained. The artist portrayed the naked flesh as the focus of power, the joys of being like a miracle. Restraint and elegance of colors, light and sad combined with the works of Yegor Tolkunov.
