Overview

"Monthly" is a breathtaking oil painting by the renowned artist Oksana Ivanyuk. It offers a serene depiction of a wintry landscape transitioning from the harsh peak of winter to the first signs of thaw. This original painting is a masterful display of the impasto technique, where thick, expressive strokes of oil paint create a tactile and visually rich landscape.

Artistic Expression

The painting captures a snow-covered scene rendered in a palette of blues, grays, and whites, with strokes that convey the textured surface of freshly disturbed snow. Earthy tones peek through layers of snow, suggesting recent changes that hint at the landscape's dormant life beneath. Bare trees with spindly, red-brown branches stand against a subdued, overcast sky, symbolizing resilience in the cold.

Setting and Mood

In the background, the subtle forms of cottages or farm buildings suggest human presence within this vast, natural setting. These structures, painted in muted colors, blend into the horizon, enhancing the feeling of solitude and tranquility. The sky, depicted in grays and light blues, features a faint crescent moon, reinforcing the painting's theme of quiet transition from dusk to evening.

Visual Impact and Technique

The dynamic and multidirectional brushstrokes create an immersive scene that invites the viewer to feel the chill and stillness of the landscape. Ivanyuk's use of the impasto technique adds depth and intensity to the painting, making the chilly atmosphere almost palpable.
