About the artist: Ukrainian artist and graphic artist.
Victor Vladimirovich Babentsov was born on February 5, 1921 in the village of Litvinovka (now part of the city of Verkhnedneprovsk), Dnepropetrovsk region.
In 1938 - 1939 he studied at the Dnepropetrovsk Art School.
Member of the Great Patriotic War. He was awarded with military awards.
From 1946 to 1952 he studied at the Kiev Art Institute under K. Trokhimenko and V. Kostetsky.
In 1951, the painting "Steel Test" by V. Babentsov, in collaboration with D. Shostak, was exhibited for the first time at the republican art exhibition.
Later, the artist was an active participant in city, republican and all-Union art exhibitions.
Member of the Union of Artists of Ukraine since 1956.
Author of monumental pictorial compositions dedicated to the labor of metallurgists, the October Revolution and the Great Patriotic War. Master of portrait and landscape.
In 1977 he was awarded the title "Honored Worker of the Ukrainian SSR"
People's Artist of Ukraine since 2004.
In March 2011, the Russian Museum in Kiev hosted a personal exhibition of V.V. Babentsov, dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the artist's birth.
The works are kept in the National Art Museum of Ukraine, in Kharkov, Dnepropetrovsk, Donetsk, Cherkassk, Berdyansk art museums and in other museum and private collections in Ukraine and abroad.
