The painting "Next to the Penthouse" is an evocative oil on canvas piece that captures the serene and picturesque setting adjacent to a penthouse. The artist uses a harmonious color palette that includes soft pastels, bright greens, and neutral tones. The technique combines smooth, blended brushstrokes for the sky and grass with more textured, impasto strokes for the building and pathway, adding depth and dimension to the scene. The composition leads the viewer's eye from the foreground to the background, creating a sense of depth and inviting exploration. The penthouse dominates the right side of the canvas, with its sturdy structure painted in cream and gray tones. A winding pathway starts from the bottom center, leading towards a figure in the distance and enhancing the perspective. The penthouse is depicted with a blend of realism and slight abstraction. The walls are textured with visible brushstrokes, adding to the tactile quality of the building. Windows are rendered with simple lines, reflecting the light from the bright sky. The building's large, sloping wall creates a dynamic angle, guiding the viewer's gaze upwards. The pathway is painted in shades of gray, with textured brushstrokes that suggest the rough surface of paving stones. It winds towards the horizon, where a solitary figure stands, adding a narrative element to the scene. The lush green grass surrounding the pathway is painted with varied strokes of green, yellow, and blue, creating a vibrant, natural texture. A small tree on the left side adds balance to the composition, its delicate branches contrasting with the solid structure of the penthouse. The sky is a soft blend of blues and pinks, suggesting either early morning or late afternoon light. Light, wispy clouds are painted with gentle, smooth strokes, adding to the tranquil atmosphere of the scene. The figure in the distance is painted in a monochromatic gray, creating a sense of mystery and contemplation. The figure’s indistinct features suggest movement or a dreamlike quality, drawing the viewer's curiosity about their purpose and destination. The overall mood of the painting is peaceful and reflective, capturing a moment of quiet beauty next to the penthouse. The harmonious colors and balanced composition evoke a sense of calm and serenity, inviting viewers to imagine themselves in this tranquil setting. "Next to the Penthouse" can be interpreted as a celebration of architectural beauty in harmony with nature. The painting captures the essence of a peaceful moment, where man-made structures coexist gracefully with the natural landscape. The solitary figure adds a narrative element, suggesting themes of solitude, contemplation, and the human connection to the environment. This painting beautifully combines elements of architecture and nature to create a serene and engaging scene, using color and composition to evoke a sense of calm and introspection.

About the artists: Oleksiyander Gukalov
After graduating from Lviv Polytechnic, he was engaged in scientific work. In his free time, he studied the works of Plato, the poetry of the ancient East, and religious works. At this time, resistance to the routine of life and utilitarian science arose in him; he became interested in man and his secrets. Oleksiyander decided to end his engineering career and become a humanitarian. Since 1990, he began to write and publish philosophical poems. Later he decided to devote himself to painting, a passion for which began during his years of study at the Lviv Polytechnic with caricatures and caricatures of classmates and teachers.

Since 2017 he has been painting with oil paints. Oleksiyander does not have a formal art education, but he is convinced that the craft and talent of an artist do not directly depend on professional education. The artist's works are characterized by completeness of composition and depth of meaning. He is not afraid to work with different themes, his paintings are true modern art that touches people. The artist’s portfolio includes landscapes and views of his favorite cities, portraits of pop stars, politicians, athletes, relatives, and animals. “I draw a toga when I feel the need for it. Therefore, I cannot say that I work in some narrow direction. Rather, it is a call from the soul,” the artist says about himself.
