About the artists: Soviet Ukrainian painter and graphic artist, master of lyrical landscape. People's Artist of the Ukrainian SSR. Member of the Union of Artists of the Ukrainian SSR. Nepiypivo Vasily Ignatievich was born on December 28, 1916 in the village of Kamenka, Poltava province (Dikan district, Poltava region). Graduated from the Kharkov art studio. Member of the Great Patriotic War. He was awarded the Order of the Red Star and medals. He was one of the main artists of Kiev in the war and post-war years - he held in his hands all the decoration of the city of Kiev being rebuilt. He was a different genre artist. He painted still lifes, landscapes, portraits, including party leaders (Blucher, Stalin, etc.). After an unfortunate incident (a portrait of Stalin, his work, lifted into the sky on an airship, fell on the field of the Kiev stadium), Vasily Nepiypivo left the portrait genre. Of the hundreds of pre-war works, he has preserved only two paintings. V. Nepiypivo becomes a refined master of still life, he is characterized as "... a bright representative of the Ukrainian landscape school with its characteristic lyricism, spontaneity of impressions, admiration for nature." He explains his position in the following way: “... basically I do without a human presence. The landscape allows this - the nature is thinking, it makes it possible to convey big ideas without the presence of a person. And lately, I deliberately do not introduce him into this temple of beauty and harmony - he does so much evil to nature and to himself, of course, as a refined part of nature, and therefore falls out of unity, no matter how bitter it is, even how sad. " Since 1951 he took part in regional, republican, all-union and international art exhibitions. In 1980, a personal exhibition of the artist took place in Kiev. In 1982, V.I. received the title - "People's Artist of the Ukrainian SSR". Lived and worked in Kiev. The artist's works are in museums, galleries and private collections in Ukraine and abroad. The years of the artist's persistent work are reflected in the works, without which, since the mid-1950s, not a single Ukrainian exhibition can do. Here are my childhood memories - "Blooming mallow". From them breathes peace, the sun of a fine summer day; luxurious mallows fill the entire plane of the canvas. In "March Glimpse" the artist seems to anticipate the soft warmth of spring: everything around is still covered with a lush, sparkling snow blanket, a soft ray slid along the tops of the trees, painting the sides of the hay heaps at the edge of the forest - brought the first news of spring. The artist often builds a picture on refined moods, nuances, subordinating the motive, color and tone to his idea. There are motives that are very close to the author. He especially loves to draw water - a symbol of life, of everything on earth. For the most part, it is quiet, calm, the sky, trees, bushes, sandy shore are reflected in the clear reach of a bay or pond. he willingly writes the spring floods of rivers, when the thick branches reach the sky with their crowns, powerfully towering over the flood-flooded spaces. The artist knows how to convey the direction of the river, the boundlessness of the sea. Lyric notes always dominate the life-affirming polyphony of the melodies of his paintings. The very titles of the works - "Lindens", "Breath of Spring", "Oh, the month has risen", "Dance of the Birches", "Morning Flavors", "Blue Song", "Lilac Foam" - testifies that their author is a real lyricist ... A separate page of Vasily Nepiypivo's work is his Kiev landscapes. At different times of the year - early spring and golden autumn, winter and summer - he sings his hometown sincerely and lyrically, lovingly and passionately. History and modernity in the works of Nepiypivo appear in an indissoluble unity. Architectural monuments, silent and majestic, have detected in their harsh forms the existence and deeds of our ancestors. And the artist respectfully depicts man-made images of the past. The native Poltava region is sung in V. Nepiypivo's canvases "Make a River", Spaces Psla "," On the outskirts of Dikanka ". The artist is closely connected with the land on which he grew up.
