About the artist: Ukrainian painter, graphic artist. Petr Mikhailovich Suponin was born on October 1, 1898 in the city of Kharkov. From 1913 to 1917 he studied at the art and craft workshops of decorative painting in Kharkov. From 1923 to 1929 he studied at the Kharkov Art Institute, where his teachers were: M. Burachek, M. Fedorov, S. Prokhorov, A. Kokel. Suponin P.M. - Member of the Kharkov branch of the Union of Artists of Ukraine since 1938. Member of the Great Patriotic War. From 1944 to 1986 he taught at the Kharkov State Art Institute (renamed the Kharkov Art and Industry Institute). Since 1951 - as an assistant professor. Since 1927 he took part in regional, republican, all-union and international exhibitions. Solo exhibitions of P.M.Suponin were held: Kharkov - 1971.1978.1984, 1998; Kupyansk (Kharkov region) - 1971; with. Bliznyuki (Kharkov region) - 1976. He died on February 11, 1990 in Kharkov. The artist’s works are stored in Kharkov and Lugansk art museums, galleries and private collections in Ukraine and abroad.
