About the artist: Ukrainian painter and graphic artist.
Viktor Markiyanovich Savin was born on February 13, 1907 in the village of Zavadovka, Kirovograd (now Odessa) region in the family of a teacher.
The childhood and adolescence of the future artist was held in the city of Izium in the Kharkov region.
From 1924 to 1927 he studied simultaneously at the Kharkov art vocational school and the Kharkov art institute. His teachers were: I. Dubasov, S. Prokhorov, A. Kokel.
From 1927 to 1929 he studied at the painting studio at the Central House of Arts in Leningrad under Y. Cheptsov and I. Brodsky.
Since 1932, Savin V.M. - participant of republican, all-union and foreign art exhibitions.
He worked in the field of easel painting and graphics.
Member of the Union of Artists of the USSR.
He was engaged in teaching activities at the Ukrainian Polygraphic Institute in Kharkov. In 1939 he was appointed an assistant professor. After the end of the Great Patriotic War, a new printing institute was created in Lvov, the legal successor of the Kharkov institute. VM Savin moves to Lviv and continues to teach.
Victor Markiyanovich Savin worked a lot and fruitfully in book graphics. He has performed skilful illustrations for Ukrainian fairy tales, for the trilogy "Shlyakh on Kiev" by SD Sklyarenko, stories, novels and stories by NP Trublaini and others.
The artist's personal exhibition was held in 1959 at the Lviv Museum of Ukrainian Art.
Awarded with the Certificate of Honor of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the Ukrainian SSR.
In 1964 he was awarded the title "Honored Artist of the Ukrainian SSR".
The artist died on June 9, 1971 and was buried at the Lychakiv cemetery in Lvov.
The works of V.M. Savin are kept in the Lviv Museum of Ukrainian Art, Kirovograd Memorial Museum. M.L. Kropyvnytsky, Kharkov Art Museum, in gallery and private collections in Ukraine and abroad.
