About the artist: Ukrainian painter and graphic artist, author of books on art, publicist.
Vladimir Nikolaevich Afanasyev was born on March 1, 1949 in the village of Pavlovka, Artsyzsky district, Odessa region.
In 1971 he graduated from the graphic arts department of the Odessa Pedagogical Institute.
In 1977 he founded and headed the Artsyz Art School.
Since 1970 V.N. Afanasyev is a participant of regional, republican, all-Union and foreign art exhibitions.
In the early 1980s, he took part in the famous apartment exhibitions organized by Odessa non-conformist artists.
Vladimir Afanasyev is called the Bessarabian Modigliani. His paintings combine elements of realism, cubism, fauvism and folk art.
In 2002, his book "The World of Graphics of the Artist Afanasyev" was published.
In 2004 he created a unique book "Wedding in the Graphics of Vladimir Afanasyev", which was presented in the Gorky Scientific Library in Odessa.
Since 2008 - a member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine.
From 2 to 16 August 2014, in the halls of the Odessa Museum of Western and Eastern Art, a personal exhibition of Vladimir Nikolaevich Afanasyev was held, timed to coincide with his 65th anniversary.
The artist's works are presented in museum, gallery and private collections in Ukraine, France, Great Britain, Germany, USA.
