About the artist: Crimean painter. Landscape painter.
Strelov Arkady Efimovich was born in 1923 in the village of Shukhra, Ivanovo region. Here, among the open meadows and arable lands with shady, cool copses, the first years of the artist's life passed. After graduating from a vocational school in Ivanovo, he worked as a turner at a factory.
In 1942 he went to the front, fought at Stalingrad, on the Kursk Bulge, was wounded twice. The victorious May 1945, the commander of a rifle platoon, junior lieutenant Arkady Strelov, who was awarded the Order of the Red Star and military medals, met in Prague.
After demobilization, he entered the Ivanovo Art School, where his teachers were experienced teachers I.D. Kalashnikov, M.I. Malyutin. Communication with them strengthened the adherence to the traditions of the Russian school of realistic landscape painting with its deep imaginative content. In 1950 he graduated from college and came to Yalta.
The originality of the Crimean landscape, permeated with sunlight, in which the purity and fullness of the natural color shades of nature in their tonal unity is revealed, changed the artist's creative style.
The canvases, written in the 60-70s, are built on a harmonious combination and subtle nuance of a few gray-green and blue tones, air appears in them, depriving the volumes of frozen sharpness.
Strelov as a landscape painter created his own imaginative world, inherent only to him, which draws the viewer into the sphere of kind and light lyrical feelings, marked by the integrity of the relationship to nature.
Since 1958 he has participated in republican and all-Union exhibitions. His works were exhibited in Hungary, Canada, Poland, Switzerland, Japan, USA, Greece, Holland.
Since 1961 A.F. Strelov is a member of the Union of Artists of the USSR.
Strelov traveled a lot around the country. He visited the Arctic, on the Kola Peninsula, walked the Ivanovo and Vladimir regions.
Arkady Strelov lived and worked in Yalta.
His works are in museum and private collections in Ukraine, Russia and other countries.
