About the artist: Soviet Ukrainian painter. Born in 1950 in with. Revushchino, Kobelyatsky district, Poltava region. He graduated from the Dnepropetrovsk art school. He graduated from the Kiev Art Institute (1978), where he studied under V. Shatalin and V. Gurin. After graduation, he was engaged in teaching. He took part in republican, all-union and international exhibitions (since 1976). Member of the NUAU (1985). Honored Artist of Ukraine (1992). Professor of the Department of Painting and Composition of the National Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture. According to the artistic direction of Alexander Sheremet, it can be attributed to a cohort of realist artists. Still life prevailed in the artist’s work, although there are landscapes, portraits, and thematic paintings in the artist’s work. The easel painting of the artist is striking in its beauty and harmony, activity and expressive character. In the works of the artist is professional mastery of the composition - the balance of the masses, volume and colors. At different periods of his work, O. Sheremet demonstrated certain tastes in coloristic decision and means of artistic expression, the nature of writing. At the same time, his works never lost the individual traits of the artist.
