About the artist: Leonid Aleksandrovich Tishkov (born 1953) is a Russian artist.
He graduated from the First Moscow Medical Institute. A.M.Sechenova (1979).
Exhibited since 1989, the first solo exhibition in 1991. Solo exhibitions were held at the State Center for Contemporary Art, the Moscow Museum of Modern Art, the Moscow galleries Krokin, etc., as well as in museums in Yekaterinburg, Chelyabinsk, Novosibirsk, Krasnoyarsk, Yaroslavl , USA, Germany, Sweden, Venezuela. His works are in the collections of the State Tretyakov Gallery, Moscow Museum of Modern Art, Nasher Museum, NC, USA, Museum of Fine Arts of Northwestern University (Chicago), Museum of Modern Art, NY, Uyazdovsky Castle Center for Contemporary Art, Warsaw, Luigi Center for Contemporary Art Pecchi, Prato, Italy, etc.
Tishkov also worked in the field of book graphics: in the late 1980s. the publishing house “Art” published Karel Chapek, “The Twelve Chairs” and “The Golden Calf” by Ilf and Petrov, “The Hunt for the Snark” by Lewis Carroll with his illustrations. In recent years, illustrates the books of his wife, writer Marina Moskvina.
In 2007, in his own publishing house "Livebook / Gayatri" a book was published, written (and illustrated) by Leonid Tishkov himself - "How to become a brilliant artist without a drop of talent." In 2004-2008 the same publishing house published a collection of early cartoons, “Black Humor for White and Colored”, stories in pictures “Divers” in three volumes, “Dabloids”.
He is engaged in business. He founded the publishing house “LiveBook-Gayatri” together with his son, the first Russian cartoon site [1] [2], the gallery “Fly”.
