About the artist: Ihor Fedorovych Safonov

He was born on July 27, 1958 in the city of Bakhchisarai in the Crimea.
He started wrestling at the age of 10. While still studying at school, he received the title of master of sports in classical wrestling. After graduating from the Bakhchysaray Secondary School in 1975, he applied to the Simferopol State University named after M.V. Frunze for the Faculty of Physical Education and the Department of Classical Wrestling. After graduating from the university, he served in the Odesa motorized rifle division. After serving in the army, he was hired as a draftsman at the Crimean Printing Plant. In the process of work, he became interested in painting. After the closure of the plant, he continued to paint, for which the Bakhchisaray city council allocated a room for organizing a workshop. During this period, his paintings began to be actively exhibited at exhibitions in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Lviv and various regions of Ukraine. In 90-91 paintings were presented at an exhibition in Chicago, USA. In the same year, he left to work as an artist in Poland. In 1993, he left to work as an invited artist in Turkey. In 1996, he was invited to work in Germany, where he painted paintings for a private collection. From 2001 to 2002, he lived and worked in Israel. In 2003, he worked in New Zealand. Currently, the artist lives in Bakhchisarai, in his homeland. Actively paints pictures. In 2008, an exhibition of his works was held in Holland, in 2010 - in Lyon, France.

Today, most of the artist's works are in private collections and museums in Russia and Europe. More than 500 of his paintings have been bought by Western collectors. The range of work of Igor Safonov is wide - cubism, symbolism, suprematism, avant-garde and much more. All the works of the artist are written in a unique manner characteristic of the author.
