"Town Square" is an evocative oil painting that captures a picturesque scene of a town square, dominated by a prominent architectural structure and framed by bare, wintry trees. The composition and use of color convey a sense of tranquility and timelessness. The painting is composed of a prominent view of a large, majestic lion statue in the foreground, with the town square and a tall, notable building in the background. The bare trees with their intricate, winding branches create a natural frame around the scene, drawing the viewer's eye toward the central architecture. The artist employs a subdued palette dominated by muted earth tones, creating a calm and serene atmosphere. The building in the background is rendered in soft pastels, which contrasts with the dark, rich tones of the lion statue and the trees. The central building features a tall tower with a clock, adding an element of historical and cultural significance to the scene. The architectural style suggests a traditional or historical European town, with well-preserved facades and distinct features. The bare trees, with their stark branches, suggest a late autumn or winter setting, adding a sense of quiet and stillness to the scene. The ground is depicted in warm browns and ochres, indicating a season where foliage has mostly fallen. The lion statue in the foreground symbolizes strength and majesty, anchoring the scene with a sense of timelessness and grandeur. The central building with its tall tower and clock suggests a place of importance within the town, possibly a town hall or significant landmark. The artist combines realistic detail in the depiction of the lion statue and buildings with impressionistic touches in the trees and background, creating a balanced and engaging composition. The use of light and shadow is subtle yet effective, adding depth and dimension to the architectural elements and natural surroundings. "Town Square" is a captivating work of art that beautifully captures the serene and majestic atmosphere of a town square. The artist’s use of muted colors, detailed composition, and thoughtful integration of natural and architectural elements create a harmonious and evocative scene. Through its depiction of the lion statue and historical building, the painting invites viewers to appreciate the quiet beauty and cultural significance of the town square.

About the artists: Oleksiyander Gukalov
After graduating from Lviv Polytechnic, he was engaged in scientific work. In his free time, he studied the works of Plato, the poetry of the ancient East, and religious works. At this time, resistance to the routine of life and utilitarian science arose in him; he became interested in man and his secrets. Oleksiyander decided to end his engineering career and become a humanitarian. Since 1990, he began to write and publish philosophical poems. Later he decided to devote himself to painting, a passion for which began during his years of study at the Lviv Polytechnic with caricatures and caricatures of classmates and teachers.

Since 2017 he has been painting with oil paints. Oleksiyander does not have a formal art education, but he is convinced that the craft and talent of an artist do not directly depend on professional education. The artist's works are characterized by completeness of composition and depth of meaning. He is not afraid to work with different themes, his paintings are true modern art that touches people. The artist’s portfolio includes landscapes and views of his favorite cities, portraits of pop stars, politicians, athletes, relatives, and animals. “I draw a toga when I feel the need for it. Therefore, I cannot say that I work in some narrow direction. Rather, it is a call from the soul,” the artist says about himself.
