About the artist: Born September 5 (September 17, new style) 1890 in Moscow.
Graduated from Moscow University. Then he graduated from the Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture (MUZhVZ) in the workshop of A.M. Vasnetsov and A.S. Stepanov in 1918. He also studied under S.V. Malyutin and A.E. Arkhipov.
Since 1916, Yakovlev began to participate in exhibitions. In 1917, as a student of the Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture, the artist exhibited his works at the 17th periodical art exhibition of the Nizhny Novgorod Society of Art Lovers. In 1921 he exhibited with the World of Art group. Since 1922 - participant of the CPX exhibitions.
He traveled a lot around the country: in 1925 he visited Samarkand, in 1928 - in Crimea, in 1929 - in Baku, in 1930 - in Leningrad (at the Baltic plant), in 1931 - in Svirstroy, in 1932 - in Maikop, in 1933 - in Georgia (at the Suram pass). He made two trips to the Urals (1933 and 1934). In 1935 he was in Dagestan, and in 1936 - in Karelia.
During the Great Patriotic War, BN Yakovlev created a number of expressive works about Moscow.
He taught at VGIK in 1956-1963, professor. Member of the CPSU since 1960. [1]
The artist's personal exhibitions were held in Moscow (1943 - Tretyakov Gallery, 1966) and in Kiev (1959).
He died on December 8, 1972 in Moscow.
