About the artist: Full member of the Academy of Arts of the USSR. People's Artist of the USSR. Laureate of USSR State Prizes, Toktogul Prize and J. Nehru International Prize. Founder of modern Kyrgyz art. In the city of Verny (now Alma-Ata) he took painting lessons from the artist and teacher N.G. Khludov (1918-1920). In 1924-1930 he studied in Moscow Vhutemas (Higher art and technical workshops) in the workshop of R.R. Falk. Later he worked a lot as a teacher - including at the Institute of Proletarian Fine Arts (former Higher Artistic and Technical Institute, Vkhutein) in Leningrad (1930-1932). He was one of the founders and chairman of the board of the Union of Artists of the Kyrgyz SSR (1933-1937, 1941-1943). The works are in collections of the State Tretyakov Gallery, State Russian Museum.
