About the artist: Professor of the St. Petersburg Academy of Arts. In the early 1890s studied in Samara with the artists F.E. Burov and A. Egorov. In 1895 he entered the Central School of Technical Drawing of Baron Stieglitz, in 1896 he entered the construction department of the Riga Polytechnic and continued his studies in painting at the studio of D. Clark. In 1904 he entered the architectural department of the Academy of Arts, from 1905 to 1911. studied at the painting department of the Academy of Arts under V.E. Dubovsky and A.A. Kiseleva. In 1911, for the painting "Sailed", he received the title of artist, a trip abroad and an international gold medal at an exhibition in Munich. In 1912 he traveled around Europe. Upon his return to Russia, he painted landscapes, views of northern cities and small towns on the Volga. In 1922 he emigrated from Russia and settled in Berlin. According to the artist's will, after his death, all his paintings were transferred to the Academy of Arts in Leningrad, and are currently stored in the Moscow Regional Art Museum in New Jerusalem.
