About the artists: Tereshchenko Anatoly Konstantinovich was born on October 19, 1900 in the village of Shershenevka, Lubensky district. Poltava region. After graduating from high school in Poltava, he worked as a school teacher. From 1927 to 1931 he studied at the Poltava Pedagogical Institute in the agrobiology department. After graduating from the institute, starting in 1932 he worked at the Ukrainian Research Station of Beekeeping, was engaged in scientific research in the field of beekeeping. On issues of beekeeping, he published monographs, reference books, scientific articles in domestic and foreign journals. Interest and ability in painting showed in A.K. Tereshchenko from childhood, he draws a lot, paints landscapes. The 19-year-old boy received his first painting lessons, an understanding of high art thanks to a meeting with the talented artist I.K. Dryapchenko, who graduated from the Academy of Arts in St. Petersburg in the classes of I. Repin, V. Serov, P. Chistyakov and other outstanding artists-teachers. Under the guidance of the teacher, he mastered the basics of drawing and painting, worked a lot, painted sketches from fresh perception - directly from life, and later improved his skills at the art school in Kharkov. In his work, I.K. Dryapchenko often turned to the themes of the Motherland - the life of the Ukrainian village and passed this on to the capable student. The work of A.K. Tereshchenko was especially fruitful during his residence in the village of Novye - Sanzhary, Poltava region. The artist peers closely into the surrounding life, reveals the poetic sides of nature, sees beauty in the simple plots of the old "fading" Ukraine ("Twilight", 1972, "Winter. Lymarya's Hut", 1961). His landscapes are distinguished by their refined coloring, they show the ability to capture and convey the richness of color shades, to create a lyrical mood ("Warm Autumn", 1956, "Summer Has Passed", 1958).
"Winter Landscape" (1957) reflects tonal richness, in it one can feel the aroma of a snowy forest.
Sunset and figures by the fire ("Autumn Time", 1974) fill the landscape with a deep mood. The subtlest color effects of the air and water surface are expressed in the works "Evening in Simeiz" (1951), "Evening on the Vorskla" (1957), "Spill" (1957). The works of A.K. Tereshchenko are small in size, but they are filled with content, poetic mood and are perceived as a completely finished work. Art critic T.M. Panova responded to the painting of A.K. Tereshchenko: "You cannot even imagine what a balm for the soul your poetic tender things turned out to be. It is amazing how in a small format you managed to convey the feeling of the vastness of the world, the quiet wisdom of nature, the harmony of being, they contain a lot of silence and hidden energy at the same time ... "(1989). A.K. Tereshchenko was a regular and welcome participant in city, regional, and republican exhibitions of amateur artists; his works were awarded diplomas and certificates; he generously donated paintings to museums, artists, poets, writers, and many art lovers and admirers of his talent.
