About the artist: Georgy Petrovich Petrov was born on January 19, 1927 in the city of Engels (Pokrovsk station) in the Saratov Region (Russia).
In 1953 he graduated from the Saratov Art College. His teachers were M. Arkhangelsky, I. Shcheglov.
Since 1955 he lived in Kherson.
Member of republican, union and foreign art exhibitions.
Since 1973 - member of the Union of Artists of the USSR.
He worked in the field of easel painting and watercolor. Master of thematic works, landscapes and still lifes.
The artist creates a hymn to human labor - the triptych "Bread" (1982).
The success of the works of Georgy Petrovich Petrov lies in a special talent to catch the mood in nature and the surrounding world.
The richest was the series "Gifts of the Kherson Region". In the canvases of this cycle, the Tauride land, generous with bright colors, lives and breathes: “Milk in a Green Jug” (1975), “Bread”, “Kherson Watermelons” (1975), “Autumn Catch” (1981), “Still Life with Spikelets” ( 1974).
Petrov G.P. expressed himself as a sincere lyricist, colorfully subtly expressing the depth of feelings: "Song of Sails", "Awakening", "Karasi and Carps", "Windy Day", "Aspen".
In 2002, he became a graduate of the Ministry of Culture and Arts of Ukraine and the National Union of Artists of Ukraine.
Works by G.P. Petrov stored in the collection of the Kherson Regional Art Museum. A. Shovkunenko, in gallery and private collections.
