About the artist: Since childhood, he dreamed of becoming an artist. As a schoolboy from his native village, he came to Romny, where he studied with the artist V. K. Zosenko to understand art, to feel color.
Successfully graduated from the Kharkov State Art School and the graphic arts department of the Kharkov Pedagogical University.
Staying in Kharkov gave Sergey a lot in his development as an artist. Among his Kharkov mentors were such recognized masters as P. Shigimaga, M. Konstantinopolsky, V. Khmelnitsky.
The creative range of Sergei Pivtorak's works ranges from classical realism to impressionism. His landscapes, still lifes and genre paintings are filled with air and color. He considers M. Polenov, I. Levitan, K. Yuon, S. Zhukovsky, S. Vasilkovsky as his authorities in art.
In 2003 he joined the National Union of Artists of Ukraine, the first of the residents of Romny. His paintings are increasingly found in museums and private collections in Ukraine and abroad. Works by S. Pivtorak are in the Sumy and Lebedinsky art and Romensky local history museums.
S. Pivtorak is an active participant in various art exhibitions: local, regional, state. Only in recent years, the artist took part in All-Ukrainian art exhibitions: to the 2000th anniversary of the Nativity of Christ (Kiev, Kharkov, 2000), to the Artist's Day (Kiev, 2000, 2003; Kharkov, 2001), "Picturesque Ukraine" (Ivano-Frankivsk, 2001; Donetsk, 2001), to the 65th anniversary of the Kharkov regional organization of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine (Kharkov, 2003). To this should be added personal exhibitions in the Romny Museum of Local Lore, the Art Center "Cathedral" and the House of Artists (Sumy), the Kiev-Mohyla Academy (Kiev), the Ukrainian Cultural Center (Moscow), the Lebedinsky Art Museum.
